Our first ESL Conversation Night will be at Panera Bread. We will be meeting on the second Thursday of each month. Our first meeting will be on Thursday, October 11@ 7:00pm. Hope you can come out to a fun evening of coffee and conversation. Coffee is $1.60 and there are free refills.

DUCK TOUR 10 AM-11:30 AM
We will board an authentic, renovated World War II amphibious vehicle and view Boston from both land and water while you learn many facts about this unique and wonderful city.

FANEUIL HALL MARKETPLACE 12 PM -3 PM
This historic and exciting marketplace has played an integral role for over 250 years in the life of Boston’s residents. We will see, taste and touch a true Boston experience with some of the most famous shopping and dining experiences.

PRUDENTIAL SKYWALK 4 PM -5 PM
Visit the Skywalk Observatory, Boston's only sky-high vantage point for sweeping 360 degree views of Greater Boston and beyond. Let your eyes and ears do the walking as you experience the exclusive state-of-the-art Antenna Audio Tour detailing the city's many points of historic and cultural interest.

Welcome to Vernon Adult Education’s Rockville site. We hope that your journey with us is a great one.

Some Fun FREE THINGS.. to do in Hartford
1. Bushnell ParkBetween Elm and Jewel Streets, (860) 232-6710America's oldest public park is home to more than 125 tree species, some more than 100 years old. Free half-hour Notable Trees and Arch Tours are available Thursdays only, noon to 1:30 p.m., May through October. Or, pick up a free Bushnell Park Tree Walks brochure at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Arch or at the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection--the building with the red-tile roof on Elm Street adjacent to the Park. The self-guided tour described in the brochure will take you on several different walks through Bushnell Park and help you to locate more than 40 different species of trees.
2. Center Church and Ancient Burying GroundMain and Gold Streets, (860) 249-5631Church open Wednesdays and Fridays, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.The Ancient Burying Ground is the final resting place for many of Hartford's founders and early settlers. Center Church, built in 1807, was modeled after St. Martin-In-The-Fields in London and features stained glass windows by Louis Tiffany.

Elizabeth Park Prospect and Asylum Avenues, (860) 242-0017Hartford is home to the first municipal rose garden in the U.S. During the summer months, more than 14,000 rose bushes representing 900 different varieties of roses are in bloom. The park is open free daily and the greenhouses are open free to visitors year-round from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
4. Governor's Residence990 Prospect Avenue, (860) 566-4840Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10 a.m. by appointmentThis 1909 Georgian Revival mansion has been home to Connecticut's governors since 1945. Free tours are available by appointment on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.
5. Hartford Police Museum 101 Pearl Street, (860) 722-6152Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.You'll find the first police museum in the Northeast in downtown Hartford. It features pictures and artifacts from the 135-year history of the Hartford Police Department. You'll get to sit behind the wheel of a patrol car, too.

We would like to welcome Barbara Lacoss to Manchester High, where she is serving as an ESL teacher on Monday and Wednesday evenings. Mrs. Lacoss has many years of experience working with International students and has worked overseas teaching ESL. She resides in Manchester and is orginally from Michigan. We are so fortunate to have her join our team!

(Dinner at Angelo’s, then off to the capitol to observe high school students running for office and a private tour with state representative Claire Janowski)
